Topics of expertise
The overall domain of the unit’s expertise concerns factor analysis (individual, group, organisational and environmental), mechanisms and consequences (personal, group and organisational), and impairment vs optimisation of the quality of life and psychological health in adults in the general population and in specific situations (e.g. work, illness, situations of vulnerability).
Psychological health is defined according to the holistic approach of the WHO (1946), whereby health is not just a matter of the absence of pathology but is related to a state of physical, mental and social well-being.
Quality of life is understood as a subjective and multi-dimensional construct with three main components (i.e., physical, mental and social), evaluated through both positive (e.g., well-being, engagement) and negative indicators (e.g., physical impairment or somatic disorders, psychological distress, isolation).
The scientific aims of the unit are:
Applied research aimed at innovating or improving current health intervention methods.
